Bristol Equities, Inc. has an affinity for Portland’s history. A virtual tour through our portfolio reveals our apartments that represent every decade in the early half of the 20th Century, but we have been a little light in the Mid-Century. With the addition of Tabor Place, that is no longer true! As it was built in 1958, one cannot miss the classic Mid-Century styling with the building’s clean lines and simple but bold design. It is decidedly more modern.


Tabor Place features a courtyard setting with the apartments sitting high above the street level. It is built in the midst of an area more residential than most of Burnside which makes it surprisingly quiet and charming; yet there is still the extreme convenience of being on one of the most prominent avenues in Portland. The tiered garden in the middle of the courtyard creates a private oasis for the 6 apartments that surround it. And the garden style entries evoke a very residential feel.


The size of these apartments is the most noticeable feature as the smallest apartment measures 931 square feet. Hardwood floors are present in the living rooms, dining areas bedrooms and in some cases through the kitchen as well. Living rooms are warmed by wood or gas burning fireplaces. The bright galley style kitchens have original solid wood cabinetry, surface range top, separate ovens, refrigerators and a dishwasher. Spacious dining areas are off each kitchen and open into the living rooms, highlighting the open floor plan concept that became popular in the 50’s. Bedrooms are enormous and each bedroom closet has been equipped with a closet organizer to help sort out those storage dilemmas. For additional storage, there are linen and broom closets in most and 4 apartments feature full basements! Each apartment has a washer/dryer hookup and some feature laundry machines. No matter the climate you can control your environment with the forced air gas furnace and central air conditioner in each apartment.


Spacious car garages are attached to several of the apartments and include garage door openers. Cats and dogs are welcome on this property with proof of renters insurance.


Located just at the base of Mt. Tabor, Tabor Place is well located to enjoy the bustling Hawthorne District. This district begins just a few blocks south of Burnside and features unique boutiques and sumptuous dining options. Also take advantage of being near the Mt. Tabor Park with its walking trails, basketball and tennis courts, a picnic area and an off leash dog park. Tabor Place is definitely a different venue for vintage living.
